Is there anything better than sipping a refreshing margarita in the summer? Really, margs are great any time of the year, but there is something about it on a hot day. We recently held a poll on our Instagram page to see what business our followers thought had the best marg in town. First, businesses were nominated and the following businesses filled our first round brackets:
Tekila, Agave Bar and Grill, Bunkers, Session, Taco Mama, The Collegiate Hotel, Mellow Mushroom and Drafthouse
Who do you think has the best marg? Well, they are all great, but let’s break it down:
Tekila and Agave are true Mexican restaurants, like you get the chips and salsa when you sit down. They both have the largest size margs and the best specials on them. Try them frozen or on the rocks!
Bunkers features a margarita that really could win in some competitions. It is fresh and underrated.
Session is a cocktail lounge, so they know their way around a bar and can mix a mean marg. My normal go-to cocktail at Session is the Pimms Colada, but I would totally rank their marg as a top favorite.
Mellow Mushroom might be known for having a great beer selection, but I always order the Mystic Marg. It is fresh and there are no artificial flavors involved. Pairs well with pizza!
Drathouse is another place in town known for its great beer selection, but the cocktails at Drafthouse never disappoint.
The Collegiate Hotel was our runner-up for best marg in town. Their AU Bees Margarita features honey from the Auburn University Bee Lab and a portion of each marg sold goes back to them. It is a pretty pink/purple and topped with a little honey comb.
And voted best marg in town, TACO MAMA! That really comes to no surprise. They offer a variety of flavors and some are seasonal. You can get them frozen, on the rocks, or in a pitcher. The seasonal marg of the summer is the Watermelon Margarita and if I could bottle that up and take it to the pool, I would!
