The city of Auburn was forged by the people who love it – and who Auburn loves back. Sarah Brown, a local who has called this city home since birth, is one of these people. After graduating from Auburn with a degree in Health Services Administration, she decided she’d rather do a full 180 and blaze her own trail. Gifted with skills in designing and decorating, Brown chose to pick up shop and open the first Wrapsody location in 2004 in Hoover, Alabama, alongside her partner Terri Shea. The store, of course, was a hit, with customers flowing in daily to snag the latest styles in clothing, home goods, Greek Life merchandise, and more. Eventually, Brown and her husband, a fellow Auburn native, decided it was time to return to the town that raised and shaped them.
Upon entering the downtown area once moving back, she noticed its glaring lack of women’s boutiques and decided to do something about it. Thus, Wrapsody’s second location was up and running. Working in tandem with her and Shea’s husbands, who helped bring the kitchy atmosphere of the space to life through its interior construction, one of DowntownAuburn’s current iconic storefronts opened. Much like many of the businesses in the city, this one was family-owned and operated, with her sons and daughter all lending a hand. Back in the days when Wrapsody would make deliveries of merchandise to the sororities on Bid Days, Brown’s sons jumped at the chance to be the delivery men who showed up at the Village to bring the chapters their goods, and catch a glimpse (or two) of the sorority girls as they celebrated the end of rush. Eventually, Brown chose to step back as owner and sold the business, still staying on staff. However, she wanted something more. This was when she decided to move deeper into the realm of interior design. In 2018, she co-founded LifeSTYLED, a design company that is part of the family of services offered by Three Sixty Real Estate. Starting in staging homes and businesses, she and co-founder, Tricia Young, have been able to pursue their passion for decorating. As the years have progressed and the success of the business has grown, Brown is still staging, but she’s also doing full decor, consultations, and much more in the Auburn area and beyond.
A champion for the success of the Downtown Auburn businesses, Brown has had a major impact on molding the area into what it is today – and she did it in style.
