Something scarier than the virus itself is the impact its going to have on local businesses. With “social distancing” in mind, we have some ideas on how you can support our local businesses during this time.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Shopping season! A season for giving! We want to give you more reasons to shop local. Starting on November 14th, shop at a participating merchant and grab a raffle ticket. Hold on to your ticket and collect as many as you can until Dec. 12th. On December 13th we will draw 20 tickets to win some great gifts from downtown businesses and we will draw ONE grand prize winner who will receive $500 in downtown gift cards!!

The spirit of downtown Auburn cannot be replicated. It is truly a special place. A big part of what makes downtown so special are the local businesses. Are you supporting your local businesses? Here are our top five reasons for shopping local.
The state of Alabama is holding tax-free weekend July 19th-21st. This allows you to purchase school supplies and clothing without taxes. Even if you are not heading “back to school” you can still take advantage of this weekend’s savings. Here is what is considered tax-free that you can get in downtown:

Next time you head to that parking kiosk, make sure to print a receipt. Participating downtown merchants are now offering parking validation. Simply follow these steps:
1. Park in a numbered parking space in Gay St. lot or on-street space on College or Magnolia
2. Enter parking number at electronic kiosk and pay for parking.
3. Request receipt after paying.
4. Present current parking receipt at a participating business when checking out.
The receipt must be a current receipt and participating business will keep the receipt at check out.
Our parking meters are a form of parking management that discourages long-term use of the most convenient on-street parking by downtown employees and university patrons and helps ensure that these most desirable spaces are available for our retail and restaurant customers. A two-hour parking limit is enforced from 8 a.m.-6 p.m Monday through Friday. Metered parking is free after 6 p.m. and on weekends.
